Vegan Begins
I skipped a day of posting. I think I am a bit ashamed of bailing on the whole raw thing. But I still am going with Breakfast and Lunch Raw (most of the time). Unless you have done it, you will not understand. Just to have a spoonful of cheese, one must puree nuts, garlic, lemon juice. If you want it on bread, be ready to sit 8 hours while you bread dehydrates. So, I’m a quitter, and a slacker. Whateva…… This would be why. ...

This is not easy. The prep is ridiculous. Oh, the days when I could cook dinner in an hour or less…..Now I have to prep things 8 hours ahead to dehydrate them. And, I would LOVE to have some steamed veggies right now. Anything that is cooked. I have never been more excited to start a vegan diet as I am today. Adding beans and lentils, and cooking some serious squash…..Ah, butternut squash, or some vegetable curry. Anything that is...

Today was harder than yesterday. Not with the prep….that was a tad easier. There is still a huge amount of planning involved. What was hard was the Chef complained about a headache at around 3pm. Which I used the food processor to add some dates and agave nectar. Threw in some raisins, and...

So today was THE day. And I am even sicker than yesterday. Not cool. But I stuck with it. I still had my coffee in the morning. That is the 5%-10% of our diet that will not be raw. So, remember the rules are: no animal products, and nothing that has been cooked or heated above 114 degrees. Most of the dehydrated stuff is dehydrated at 104 degrees for hours and hours. That is probably the hardest part of this diet, the prep has to be at...

I decided to get a jump start on the whole raw foods diet. Only because my the Chef had a day off, and I desperately needed to shop sans kids. So, being that everything is fresh, I didn’t want my sad looking produce (thanks to the freezing weather) to sit out and get any sadder. So, with the menu I posted the other day, my prep beings. I will admit, I am optimistic and pretty excited to try something new. I am looking forward to my ungrilled cheeze and tomato,...

So, to start the new year, I have decided to launch a full month of raw food (first 2 weeks) and vegan food (last 2 weeks). If any of you have read my previous posts, you will see just how difficult this may prove to be. And to make it even better, the chef is aboard with me. I am excited to try this out. A good number of my friends and readers are vegan (or raw) and what ever the reason may be, the restraint is something that I admire. I would love to admit that I...
