Raw Food Diet ~ Day 1

Posted by on Dec 29, 2010 in Vegan | 1 comment

So today was THE day.  And I am even sicker than yesterday.  Not cool.  But I stuck with it.  I still had my coffee in the morning.  That is the 5%-10% of our diet that will not be raw.  So, remember the rules are:  no animal products, and nothing that has been cooked or heated above 114 degrees.  Most of the dehydrated stuff is dehydrated at 104 degrees for hours and hours.  That is probably the hardest part of this diet, the prep has to be at...

Prepping for Raw Food

Posted by on Dec 29, 2010 in Vegan | 4 comments

I decided to get a jump start on the whole raw foods diet.  Only because my the Chef had a day off, and I desperately needed to shop sans kids.  So, being that everything is fresh, I didn’t want my sad looking produce (thanks to the freezing weather) to sit out and get any sadder. Tonight- Cobb Salad Pizza As I travel down my road of actually creating mostly edible meals, I have noticed a slight trend.  The pizzas I make are delicious.  I have had my ups and downs with meals.  And definitely had some shaky ground with desserts, but my pizzas are definite winners.  This may be because the concept of a pizza is pure genius, or just because of the ingredients I have been using.  (See Sausage Fig and Goat Cheese Pizza).   The chicken and bacon...

AMAZING SUCCESS! Sausage, Fig and Goat Cheese Pizza

Posted by on Aug 21, 2010 in Dinner, Lunch, Recipes | 7 comments

The grilled sausage, fig, and goat cheese pizza was an amazing success.  It turned out perfect.  The crust was crispy, the sausage had the perfect amount of heat, the figs were juicy, the cheese was creamy, and the dressing was sweet. I altered the original recipe   click here    and skipped the fontina and arugula.    I felt like the flavors of the goat cheese, figs, and sausage were plenty.  Not to mention, the dressing has pomegranate and...
