2011 The Year of New Things

Thank you to P&G’s Have You Tried This Yet? program and Kroger for sponsoring my writing about trying new things and breaking out of my everyday routine. I was selected for this sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity, as I do.

This year has begun with almost everything new. I’m not sure what prompted the decision to change things.  But we have (1) running, (2) vegan (3) the need to write.  All completely new things.  The past few years have built up to these things, and the past few months, I have found the confidence to start, and continue them.  Maybe its the 3 – oh birthday coming up.  Or just something inside that wanted a change.  But here we are: a vegan, running writer.  Seven years ago, I was quite the opposite.Chef

As some of you may know, I started the year off with a vegan diet.  This wasn’t even a consideration a year ago.  My husband and I planned on committing to a vegan diet for two weeks.  We are now 3 months into it.  And really don’t have the need or wish to go back.  We may have a burger at some point, but the way eating vegan has made us feel is amazing.  I can honestly say that my body image is on the positive side at this point, without any drastic changes.  All I changed was what I was eating, and surprise, I immediately feel better about myself, which makes me want to take better care of myself.  So the diet, makes me want to run, which makes me feel great, and want to continue eating healthy (can you see the circle here?).

And then there’s this whole writing/blogging thing.  A little while back, I decided I would actually write for someone else.  I never thought I would want to do that.  My entire life I enjoyed writing, but never had the confidence to give it a whirl.  But here I am, typing away, and spending my bored time” writing, blogging, and generating ideas for more writing and blogging.  Although I have my finger in 8 different pots at the moment, it feels new, and it feels great.

So, next time you decide you want to change something, even if it is something small, do it.  If it doesn’t work out, try something else and continue until you find that newness that feels great.
