SKINNY BITCH: Ultimate Everyday Cookbook – Crazy Delicious Recipes that are Good to the Earth and Great for your Bod (Running Press; October 26, 2010; HARDCOVER; $29.95)
I have been putting off my Skinny Bitch: Ultimate Everyday Cookbook. I don’t really know why. Since I started vegan, this has been my favorite and definitely everyday book. I even ordered Skinny Bitch in the Kitch today, so I have even more selection. My mother, whom I am very proud of, has started vegan this week. She loves the way she feels, by the way, and I took no time in ordering her both the origin Skinny Bitch and Skinny Bitch in the kitch. As soon as we can get my ol’ dad on board, Skinny Bastard will be in the loop as well. There are a lot of things in this world that I like, but not very many that I not only suggest to my family, but also just go ahead and buy it for them. It was almost as if I thought that I didn’t want to risk her not taking my advise. How the hell would she be able to go vegan without this bitch?
And Kudos to Carla as well for helping teach the old dog new tricks. She’ll kill me for that one.
The Author
Kim Barnouin, whom my dear husband said is hot (and he doesn’t say that about many people other than Alyssa Milano) is a mother, wife, and nutritionist who just happens to be a best selling author. I add the mother part, because only a mother knows how we judge the skinny bitches. If they don’t have kids, they don’t count in the skinny world. Sorry but true. Now, this bitch is thin, and fit, and gorgeous, and has the mouth of a truck driver. Oh, how I strive to be like her.
The Book
This was one of few cookbooks that got a read from front to back. When I started this whole vegan-schmegan thing in January, I had NO CLUE what it was about. It took my husband and I three days to realize that honey-nut cheerios have….gasp….honey, and we shouldn’t be shoveling them in our mouths. The beginning of Barnouin’s book introduces the reader to vegan ideas, tips, and rules.
What’s in Your Food? I can bet you don’t know everything in yours.
The Dirty Dozen and the Clean Fifteen
Skinny Bitch Secrets- the cold, hard truth about food additives, coloring, and all that other garbage that we are eating. Not to mention and introduction to seitan (yes I had to Google that initially) milks, and soy products.
Your Kitchen is Your Playground- making a vegan kitchen usable, staples, herbs, and spice information.
The Bitch’s Recipes are Slammin’ (I added that chapter)
From breakfast, soups, sex foods (hell yeah, bitch), salads, sauces, sides, Asian persuasion, drinks, and desserts. I tried, approximately, 90 percent of her recipes. THEY ARE PERFECT. They were easy to follow, great photos, great direction, easy ingredients (and if the ingredients aren’t easy, she will tell you where to get them), and the final product had the approval of the Chef (my dear husband). That says it all.

This is the best review ever. Beotch is slammin'! Looks like a great cookbook, and your husband's not-so-secret crushes…Who's the Boss?? =) Funny!!
wish i read this earlier…i was at the bookstore because its closing down and i couldn't find a cookbook that i liked… well one that was all purpose cooking. i ended up with the joy of cooking and my mom made fun of me for picking such an old book. most of the books were famous chefs that were not basic recipes and were just trying to promote themselves.. at least thats what i thought
Great review!!! Ha! My husband thinks Alyssa Milano is one of the only hot women in Hollywood too ?! Weird!!!
