Two nights in a row, now I have managed to produce some wonderfully delicious flavors. Most of that I will credit to the product. It is amazing how much better things taste now that I get them from the farmer’s market. I will admit, I initially steered clear of the good-ol’ fm in fear of horribly gouged prices hijacking the organic label. I was pleasantly surprised. My grocery bill has been cut by, at least, $40 a week.
On to the dinner. Seared Steak with Tomato-Caper Relish . I bypassed the suggested spices and used my Montreal Steak Seasoning that I think has the perfect blend of spices. The tomatoes were a beautiful orange. They almost look like mangoes in the picture.
The only changes I made to the original recipe were: (1) I passed on the jalapenos. I felt like capers and jalapenos don’t really go together, especially with tomato and olive flavors. I am not a professional, but even my amateur palate know better. And (2) the Chef and I were in desperate need of a sourdough baguette for the juices. After tasting the relish, I was searching high and low for something to mop it up and eat it, but simple sandwich bread seemed like a foodie faux pas.
